About Cell phone

The Cell Phone
by Cathy Peterson

The cell phone industry has come a long way since the inception of the private use personal cellular phone. In the late eighties and very early nineties it was a huge deal if you had a corded cellular phone in your car. The personal cell phone had terrible reception and was so large that you couldn't exactly put it your pocket for convenient usage. To look back now and compare the cell phone industry's first amazing wonders with the sleek razor phones of today, the first cell phones were actually laughable, but of course we didn't know it.

Cell phones operate on a basic frequency notion of cell sites and the use of handover to be competitive in the industry. Using technology that most people aren't interested in provided it is working when they are using their cell phone, handover is at the heart of the cell phone competition craze to provide the network with "fewest dropped calls."

While cell phone technology and even some cell phone usage has been around since the mid nineteen forties, most people hadn't heard of the usefulness of a cell phone until the early to mid eighties, where cell phones were predominately car phones.

Cell phone technology has grown immensely since cell phone usage has hit a massive boom stemming from the late nineties to early two thousands that has increased the capability of the average cell phone. Cell phones were once upon a time utilized only for placing or receiving a phone call. Now they come with the ability to text and instant message, take pictures and videos, do math, download information and music from the internet, wake you up with their plethora of alarms, download e-mail and many thing will amaze us every year when the latest version or model come out. Cell phone technology is advancing at an amazing rate in an attempt to annihilate cell phone competitors.

The boom in cell phone popularity has led to various cell phone related offshoots such as cell phone etiquette, cell phones for children, cell phone accessories, and of course, cell phone competitive plans. The ease and flexibility that a cell phone now provides is contributing to the slow but eventual downfall to land line services. In the United Kingdom, it has been reported that the number of working cell phones actually out number the latest census.

Cell phone technology has leapt forward and a tremendous growth has only led to more competition. It will be interesting to watch the cell phone industry continuously make improvements and create developments that will lead to more user friendly cell phone features.
